Kevin Bailey Forms GeoCertified, LLC

In August of 2006, GeoCertified, LLC, of Shawnee, Kansas, began offering manned hydrocarbon detection services for western and eastern Kansas operators. Ten months later, GeoCertified geologist Kevin Bailey, owner and operator, reports nearly a 90 percent success rate at detecting and pinpointing oil producing zones. Most recently, a well in the newly established Zelda Field in Sheridan County, operated by Russell Oil, Inc., was successfully pinpointed in the Lansing-Kansas City ‘J’ zone. Subsequently, what was going to be a disposal well for salt water instead turned out to be a productive oil well. LeRoy Holt, Russell Oil, Inc.’s  President, credits GeoCertified, utilizing Permian Basin Instruments Inc.’s  PB I2006, for it’s state-of-the-art operation for locating the pay zone. He said logs had failed to detect the pay zone prior to the gas detection.

GeoCertified noted the high gas unit hit in the ‘J’ zone at Russell Oil’s Ferguson #1-A , located in section 19-T10s-R30W. Kevin reported the findings to LeRoy, who was in the process of completing the well for salt water disposal purposes. Instead, a straddle Drill Stem Test was conducted and a 600 foot volume of oil and mud was recovered. The well has been perforated and is currently pump testing. LeRoy said he is very pleased with GeoCertified’s detecting, archiving, and mapping services since contracting with Kevin back in June of 2006.  GeoCertified also provides roll-format printouts from MainLog software for the ease of correlating directly to electrical log. LeRoy said Russell Oil will continue to utilize GeoCertified’s services in pinpointing potential or overlooked washed sample zones in the future.
